How can you help your child adapt to kindergarten?

Many of us are familiar with the situation: the kid starts attending kindergarten, and this event becomes a real test for the whole family. The child cries, is capricious, refuses to eat and stay in the group. How to facilitate the adaptation of a child in a preschool institution? At what age is the child ready to go to kindergarten? What phrases should be avoided in a conversation with a preschooler so that getting used to new conditions is easy and painless?

We propose to sort it out together. How does the child feel in the process of adapting to kindergarten? During the period of getting used to the new environment, the psyche and body of the baby are in strong tension. The child experiences stress, manifested in the form of: negative emotions (anger, sadness, fear); tears, whims, aggression;

“Loss of skills” – some children may “forget” how to use a fork, go “to the potty”, etc. decreased social activity; deterioration of speech; changes in physical activity (some children become overly active, others slow down); deterioration or loss of appetite for nightmares; weakening of immunity. In addition, during the period of adaptation to kindergarten, as a rule, children have a lot of fears.

The most common are:

1. Fear of parting with mom.

2. Anxiety and discomfort from being in a new environment.

3. Fear of staying with strangers, strangers.

4. Anxiety that parents may not come.

These fears are reasonable for the child, but the resource for overcoming anxiety is different for each preschooler. How long is the adaptation period?

The duration of the adaptation period depends on many factors:

1. Preparations for visiting the kindergarten (stories about it, meeting with educators, etc.).

2. Physical health (absence of chronic diseases, tendency to colds).

3. Skills of independence (dressing, walking on the pot, using a fork).

4. Regime of the day.
